Hip-hop may get a lot of people scoffing and snickering. And to a point, I kinda get where they're coming from. The lyrics are hilarious, the beats can sound the same after a while, and people get way too distracted with the baggy shirts and all that bling.
But see, that's the challenge with being involved in hip-hop, how to make it different but still appeal to the listeners. You've got to come up with a beat that's not to different that people won't like it, but something different still stands out from the rest. Something that won't get lost in the shuffle of thousands of hip-hop songs.
And no matter what, hip-hop done right will always sell.
I can't really do hip-hop, as they would say. I'm too white to rap, I guess you can say that. But I like working behind the scenes, getting to work on making a song work. It's not just about rapping and coming up with the words and the beats. You're gonna need that recording connection to mesh those things together to come up with the next hit. And pretty soon, the next hit just might be something I produced. I'm getting close to doing that.
