To be honest, I never really figured out just how tough it is to be in the recording industry. I mean, it's tough enough to even get in. Unless you know someone who could get your foot in the door, or at the very least show you which doors are worth knocking, you're pretty set to suffer through a considerable amount of setbacks.
But that's not all, there's a lot of work to be done to stay in this business. And with so much work just to get in, you can bet I'm not going to let it go that easily.
Determination is not going to be enough, I'm going to need to learn a lot. Choosing the artist with a sound you know the rest of country, or even the world, would appreciate hearing, there's an art to that. A lot of musical acts sounds so similar these days, you've got to have talent to be able to know who can stand out. But it's not just talent too. It's a lot of technical work. All these equipment, these software, they can help you take what was a good record into an excellent one.
Being a music producer, a successful one at that, it's not that easy. But to be able to work with music and make something short of magical with it, nothing compares. And I'm definitely going to study hard so that I get that recording connection that will one day get me that number 1 record, or that Grammy Award winning single.
